Today marks the 41st death anniversary of Liceo de Cagayan University's founder, Atty. Rodolfo Neri Pelaez. Atty. Rodolfo Neri Pelaez and his wife, Elsa Pelaez-Pelaez, founded the university on February 4, 1955. They intend to establish a college for the masses, one that will provide education to individuals who are deserving but financially challenged. The first campus of Liceo de Cagayan University was located on Gaerlan Street, directly across from Gaston Park. Due to its modest size and commitment to providing its students with a high-quality education and learning environment, Atty. Rodolfo Neri Pelaez chose to establish a new campus at Kauswagan, which is considered today the university's main campus. In 66 years, Atty. Rodolfo Neri Pelaez's legacy lives on as the university expands, with the effort of his daughter, Dr. Rafaelita Pelaez. She established a campus to house the primary education department, known as the Rodolfo Neri Pelaez Campus, in honor of the late university founder. In 2017, the third campus, Paseo del Rio, was built and served as the heart of Liceo U's senior high school and pre-med college students. Throughout the years, Liceo de Cagayan University has remained a center of higher learning, offered an excellent education to youth, and facilitated total human formation.
